The wedding of Kara & Prashand

It wasn’t until two days before their wedding that I met both Kara & Prashand in the flesh. Earlier in the year, Kara had liased with me via email, as both she and Prash were based in Dubai for work. Kara was originally a Sydney gal, and Prashand had been grown up in Bahrain. Fate would have that these two would meet in Dubai, and then elope to Sydney to get married.

Being an elopement, it was to date, the smallest wedding party I’ve ever covered. And yet, Kara & Prash’s wedding is probably one of my most favourite – simply because myself and Jack were allowed to spend so much quality time with them, from the morning, through to the evening when we finished up with some night portraits at The Rocks and Hyde Park.

Apart from the wedding gifts they gave to each other, everything else was DIY. The cake, Kara baked and decorated on the morning itself. The flowers, Kara’s friend arranged. It was a simple yet truly elegant wedding, and I am proud to have been a part of it.

As I had to fly out the next day to Melbourne for a wedding, there wasn’t going to be an opportunity to pass Kara & Prash their photos before they left Australia. So I did the only thing logical (well, at the time). I pulled an all nighter. Edited all the photos straight-after I got home, drove out to their hotel at 3AM in the morning, dropped them off along with some macarons with Sheraton’s concierge, before hopping my my 8AM flight.

Crazy? Yes. But it was totally worth it. Anything to make my couples beaming with joy.
